Mushrooms have arrived!
In the January issue of Shape magazine, mushrooms were highlighted along with broccoli as containing compounds that may enhance the immune system. The position was supported with a quote from Dr. Wu stating that “Mushrooms contain polysaccharides, compounds that may enhance the immune system’s pathogen-killing activity.”

COUNCIL UPDATE
- Nominations are coming up in February. Please note that the USDA encourages all eligible producers including women, minorities and individuals with disabilities to participate in the nominations and seek nomination to serve on the Council.
- The next Council meeting is scheduled for February 23, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. If you are planning on attending let Cheryl at the office know so that arrangements can be made.
