Mushrooms in the News: 12-05-202
Mushrooms have begun appearing on 2022 trend lists, with both Speciality Food Magazine and Forbes naming them a top food trend and plant-based trend, respectively, this past week. “Versatile mushrooms are not brand new to the superfood category, but their cult-like status is reaching the masses today. Not only is the consumption of ordinary mushrooms on the rise, but they’re being found in more and more unexpected places,” Speciality Foods noted.
In addition, mushrooms were featured in a variety of recipes this week. Food Network Magazine featured meatless main dishes for the holidays, with mushrooms being the star in two of the three recipes. Bon Appetit highlighted mushrooms at various times in their 8 types of Dim Sum. Food Network released recipes associated with their TV programs, namely a Brown Gravy from a restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
