Mushrooms in the News: 11-20-19
In an article about the rise of Flexitarianism on Bloomberg, the author highlights Applegate’s Blended Burger, among other plant-animal blends. Registered Dietitian Dawn Jackson Blatner says “It’s (the flexitarian movement) a pro-plant movement, not anti-meat.”
Grub Street asked chefs “What will dinner look like in 2029?” and published a roundup of their creative dishes. Several included mushrooms, with one chef saying “Mushrooms need to be there, too, since they play an essential role in improving human and environmental impacts.”
Food Navigator covered the announcement that the Mushroom Council will invest $1.5m in nutrition and plant-based research.
