Mushrooms in the News: 06-16-17
Blended Burger Project coverage continues to be strong as restaurants promote their blended burgers in their hometown.
lTop highlights from the week include:
- The San Antonio Current touted three local participating restaurants, including Tatu’s Food Debauchery, who’s ‘Dragon Burger’ currently sits in sixth place (Image right).
- The Sun Herald highlighted the blended burger created by Chef Kristian Wade of Mississippi’s Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, complete with a how-to video. Wade noted in the post that participating in BBP is “the perfect opportunity to bring awareness of sustainable food sources to our staff and guests.”
- Inlander, an Urban Weekly in Spokane, Washington, posted an article titled “Eat less meat: Local chefs participate in James Beard ‘Blended Burger Project.’ It notes that mushrooms “heighten the rich and savory characteristics, called umami, of both the meat and mushrooms, and (…) the abundant and diverse fungi is significantly less expensive to procure, and offers a substantially lower environmental impact during production as compared to meat.”
- My Recipes shared Cooking Light’s video on Facebook demonstrating how to make a blended burger at home.
AP contributor and Food Network personality, Melissa D’Arabian posted a delicious meat and potatoes steakhouse salad, which ran in Washington Post. The salad celebrates traditional steakhouse flavors, including “garlicky meaty mushrooms.”
