Mushrooms in the News: 09-29-17

As mushroom month comes to a close, top media highlights include:

• The Produce News spotlighted the Blend initiative, noting “It is rare to see (a marketing initiative) as successful as the Mushroom Council’s The Blend project, which was rolled out a few years ago.”
• Shape Magazine touted microwaving as one of the healthiest ways to prep mushrooms, quoting one blog and recipe partners, Katie Cavuto, RDN: “Shorter cooking times are best for retaining nutrients… plus, it concentrates the Umami flavor.”
• Melissa D’Arabian’s blended meatball recipe (originally published in AP) continues to gain traction in local publications such as The Columbus Dispatch.

On the social front, the Eat Well Dietitians introduced the blend and taste tested burgers in a Facebook live event yesterday. Watch it here.
