Mushrooms in the News: 1-26-18

Blend media coverage remains strong! Top highlights this week include:

• Nation’s Restaurant News added Sonic’s CEO to its annual prestigious Power List, noting his reputation for innovation: “Sonic took a bold move by testing a premium blended burger.”
• Perishable News and FreshPlaza covered the launch of the “I’m a Blenditarian Because…” ambassador program and Blenditarian Challenge.
• Foodservice Director reported the “Year’s Top Blended Burgers Revealed,” covering this week’s Blended Burger Project event at the Beard House.
• FNCE-attendee RD Serena Ball created a recipe for “Better-Tasting Breakfast Sausage (with Mushrooms!),” and posted it to her blog and social channels.

On the recipe front, Good Housekeeping posted a Roasted Mushroom Parmesan Sandwich and Crispy Mushroom and Muenster Sliders.

The New York Times article “What is the Health and Nutritional Value of Mushrooms?” (which cites the Council) appeared in print this week.

We wrapped up our first Blenditarian Challenge this week. The five winning posts included their blenditarian twist on a classic recipe, while also sharing why they’ve taken the pledge:
