Mushrooms in the News: 07-15-2020
Amy Myrdal Miller, MS, RDN suggested blended burgers as a leaner burger option for your summer grilling in HuffPost this week. The Blend “adds plants to the mix but retains a burger’s flavor and texture. ‘I love to add pre-cooked, diced cremini mushrooms that I cool and then add to the ground beef before making the patties,’ she said. ‘The mushrooms add moistness and delicious umami flavor.’”
Mushrooms were included in a list of vitamin D rich foods on MSN. “If you want to increase your vitamin D levels, include mushrooms in your diet four times a week. For added benefits, these can be sun-dried prior to consumption since mushrooms naturally produce vitamin D when exposed to sunlight.”
