New York Times published a significant mushroom profile in its food section as well as its weekly recipe email newsletter to subscribers. “I Just Love Button Mushrooms” featured well known food writer Kim Severson sharing her “crush on white button mushrooms,” featuring simple but delicious recipes such as  mushrooms on toast.
 
Produce Business selected Mushroom Council’s Mushroom Monday as a recipient of the 36th Annual Marketing Excellence Award. Mushroom Council was among one of the top 15 winners leading the way in marketing for the fresh produce industry. The award criteria focused on effectively engaging consumers, building brand awareness, and boosting sales through strategies like social media, media outreach, influencer events and more.
 
Trade publications also noted Mushroom Monday’s momentum since its debut earlier this year, including The Packer,  Produce Blue Book and And Now U Know.
 
Also on the trade front, Supermarket Perimeter highlighted  consumers’ preference for fresh foods and how mushrooms are an ideal choice. Industry sales and marketing leaders note:  “Promoting mushrooms as a cost-effective option and showcasing the health benefits mushrooms provide could increase consumption among lower-income consumers.”
