Mushrooms in the News: 08-29-2022

Mushrooms earned widespread coverage as a key ingredient in vegan cooking this past week with vegan takes on chorizo from The New York Times, tacos from Good Morning America and nugget from Yahoo. Mushrooms also showed up in a few salad features highlighting  their flavor, nutritional value and versatility.

Cravings by Chrissy Teigen, which has more than 1.5 million followers, shared two posts on her Instagram account, which reaches 38.9 million: one for a “Bloomin’ Mushroom” recipe, and the other a guide to cooking with select mushroom varieties.

In its “What to Eat This Week” section, The New York Times ran a few variations on the Oklahoma Onion Burger, one all meat, one all oyster mushroom and the third that stacks the two. Kitchn also shared a recipe for Oyster Dressing with Mushrooms. 

With the school year upon us, Restaurant Business featured a photo of a grab-and-go salad with portabella mushrooms, while FoodService Director shared sponsored content from Barilla pasta that included mushrooms.
